John
Manikoff was involved in the arts for most of his life.
For over 20 years he was a professional musician, writing
and performing original music, in a career that took him from
the clubs of Detroit to The Pilot House on Mackinac Island,
and on to venues in Colorado, New York City, Toronto and finally

In 1996 John retired from public performing
and returned to college, earning a degree from Platt College
of Graphic Design in Los Angeles. He resided in
East Lansing, Michigan, where he was a free-lance graphic
designer, artist, and illustrator.
John was a 4th generation summer resident of
Mackinac Island, and enjoyed spending his summer vacations at
his family’s historic British Landing cottage, painting,
playing golf, and playing music.
John was a member of the Mid-Michigan Art Guild, and an artist member of the Lansing Art Gallery.
